Last Christmas by Wham!/George Michael

 

    Covered at least10 times since Wham! released this Christmas breakup song, I believe it kicked off a trend that we're still living of Christmas pop songs being either 1) about an anticipated romantic relationship 2) about a current romantic relationship or 3) about a failed romantic relationship that has traumatized the holiday season for the singer. Apparently the only reason why this song failed to hit number one on the charts is BandAid's AMAZING "Do They Know it's Christmas?" beat them to it.

    I always thought the music video for Last Christmas was utterly hilarious with George Michael wistfully looking at his supposed heart's desire during a skiing holiday in Switzerland; I mean, we all now know he's gay, right?
